The DS Smith Reading Paper Mill has an immediate opening for an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician . This is a union position that will oversee the electrical, controls & instrumentation performance and maintenance of large production machinery . Individual hired will start out as an E&I Trainee until the completion of in-house training.

Pay and Benefits:

• Starting rate $37.75 per hour
• Base Schedule: Monday – Friday Day Shift - Must be available to work a 2 week on call rotation .

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Works safely and complies with all mill safety policies.
• Completes yearly safety training.
• Performs preventive maintenance work on equipment, documenting any findings.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, control and instrumentation systems including but not limited to: DCS, PLCs, variable frequency drives, motors, instrumentation, hydraulic & pneumatic systems.
• Repairs broken equipment quickly and efficiently.
• Performs relevant equipment rebuild work as assigned.
• Cleans, organizes, inventories, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
• Collaborates with managers to recommend any potential improvements.
• On-Call responsibilities shared with other technicians.
• Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Problem- solving/Troubleshooting abilities
• Technical Knowledge
  • Basic testing equipment – multimeters, megger, power tools, etc.
  • AC/DC power systems & distribution
  • 4160V/480V motors & motor controls
  • DCS/PLC systems
  • VFDs
  • Instrumentation & control valves
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Pulp & Paper experience a plus
• Able to read electrical drawings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Works well independently and with others.
• Good communication skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must live no more than 45 min from Reading, PA.

Education and Experience:

• 2 years industrial electrical/controls/instrumentation work experience
• Some vocational or community college with related coursework, a plus
