As a Surgical Center Medical Receptionist, you'll play a key role in creating a welcoming patient experience while supporting the daily administrative and clinical operations of the surgery center.
- Welcome patients by checking them in and out
- Register patients, collect co-pays and deposits, and verify required documentation
- Work within EMR systems to support clinical and administrative workflows
- Create, maintain, file, and organize patient medical records
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally and courteously
- Schedule, reschedule, and optimize patient appointments, including managing waitlists and cancellations
- Schedule follow-up appointments and document scheduling outcomes
- Prepare patient paperwork, insurance information, and required consent forms
- Obtain and accurately record patient information while maintaining confidentiality
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with general administrative duties
- Provide compassionate support to patients and their families
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, facility policies, and annual training requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or GED required
- Minimum one (1) year of hands-on experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- At least three (3) years of experience in a medical office
- Previous healthcare facility experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical insurance billing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the healthcare team
- Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
