Field Service Technician
Job Details:
What You'll Do
- Schedule startup, commissioning, service, and training visits with installing contractors and customers.
- Commission Central Inverter Systems and verify proper installation and operation.
- Perform electrical measurements, visual inspections, and mechanical inspections to ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, including:
- AC and DC circuits
- Cable connections
- Printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Batteries
- Control components
- Complete installation of remaining system components, including batteries and other required parts.
- Diagnose equipment performance issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions onsite.
- Provide remote technical support for installation, commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with Engineering by documenting field observations and recommending product improvements.
- Support the Inverter Testing Department as needed.
- Prepare replacement parts for shipment and process returned components.
- Complete service reports, expense reports, documentation, and other administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology or 5+ years of commercial electrical experience.
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical schematics
- Control systems
- Electrical circuitry
- Commercial wiring practices
- Experience working with:
- Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems up to 480 VAC
- DC voltages up to 326 VDC
- PLC systems
- AC/DC motors and drives
- Working knowledge of battery systems and electronics.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and other AC/DC measurement devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and replace electronic components such as printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, and customers.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Central Lighting Inverter Systems.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- CPR and AED Certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment and batteries weighing up to 120 lbs. (with assistance when appropriate).
- Ability to use pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment.
- Frequent travel by air and automobile, including overnight stays.
