Position Summary :

Provides leadership to snow removal crew to ensure the safe removal of snow from company roofs. Performs light carpentry work. Directs and assists in maintenance work, repairs, and adjustments of processing equipment. Directs and assists in maintenance work, repairs, and adjustments of packaging equipment. Assists packaging supervisor in repair and maintenance programs and the training of the maintenance personnel in their job functions. Performs supervisor’s duties in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Assign necessary inspection to various subordinate personnel to ensure normal plant equipment operation.

2.

  • Assist maintenance supervisor in repair and maintenance programs and the training of the maintenance personnel in their job functions.

3.

Coordinate with maintenance supervisor on planning and scheduling of assignments to include working with and overseeing maintenance crews or projects with private contractors.

4.

Diagnose problems with packaging equipment and coordinates with supervision, operators, and other maintenance personnel to make necessary repairs.

5.

Must be able to lead and direct maintenance tasks.

6.

Must be able to perform work in and outside the facility.

7.

Must be familiar with plant equipment and maintenance requirement; and possess a thorough understanding of packaging and palletizing lines and how each piece of equipment operates.

8.

Must be willing to work flexible schedules to include all shifts and weekends.

9.

On call for all plant problems and breakdowns and for filling in for packaging maintenance supervisor as needed.

10.

Provide training for packaging maintenance employees on the Ivara work order system.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Valid State of Maine Driver’s license
  • Minimum 3 months related experience and/or training
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience and solid understanding of motors, control circuits, and instrumentation.
  • Minimum 1 year as a Packaging/General Maintenance 1
  • Have or be able to obtain McCain Forklift Certification, Scissor Lift Certification, Boom Lift, and Confined Space Certifications
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and able to use the maintenance CMMS systems
  • Ability to Stick Weld, TIG Weld, MIG Weld, and Braze

Physical Demand:

Constant: Stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently: Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.

Occasionally: Sit, climb or balance; and taste or smell.
