Legal Assistant

Hawkins Parnell is seeking a well-rounded, highly motivated Legal Assistant for its Pittsburgh office. Ideal candidates will have strong administrative skills as well as some prior paralegal work exposure. This opportunity offers a broad experience base to talented legal professionals who wish to join a fast paced, success driven, vibrant team.

Hawkins Parnell represents a variety of clients from global corporations to small local businesses and individual clients in high-risk litigation and business disputes across the country and U.S. Territories. The successful candidate will be a part of a national team of 250 lawyers and professional staff spread across the country.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Drafting and editing pleadings and related legal documents
• E-filing and paper filing documents with state, federal and appellate courts
• Maintaining team and court calendars and keeping attorneys aware of scheduled events and approaching deadlines
• Scheduling meetings and conference calls
• Communicating by phone and email with clients and vendors, maintaining professionalism and a high level of customer service
• Handling billing for assigned timekeepers
• Assisting in trial preparation
• Maintaining electronic and paper files on a regular basis
• Coordinating travel arrangements and processing expense reports
• Preparing exhibits, indices, compendiums of evidence, and similar documents
• Assisting fellow workers and/or other timekeepers as needed

What You Need To Bring:

• Traditional tort litigation experience preferred
• Demonstrated initiative and self-direction
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Strong Outlook skills and proficiency in MS Office suite, including Word and Excel
