Pay Range: $70,000 - $82,000 (annually)
This position must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Position Summary
The Staff Clinician for the Co-Responder Behavioral Health Unit of Tuttleman Counseling Services provides culturally sensitive mental health crisis intervention services, clinical care, and outreach to individuals, couples, groups, and employees. This position has been created through a partnership between Temple University's Tuttleman Counseling Services (TCS) and the Temple University Department of Public Safety (TUDPS). The Staff Clinician for the Co-Responder Behavioral Health Unit reports to the Senior Director of Tuttleman Counseling Services. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide on-scene crisis intervention and behavioral health support, in collaboration with the Temple University Department of Public Safety (TUDPS), during situations that involve individuals in high emotional or psychological distress. This position accompanies TUDPS police officers on calls involving students in significant psychological distress. The staff clinician is responsible for providing immediate on-scene clinical assessments to determine appropriate level of care and follow up services; delivering crisis intervention and stabilization; developing safety plans; and assisting with transports when hospitalization may be necessary. This position also provides post-incident stress debriefings and consultations for TUDPS and the University community, and as-needed behavioral health support to TUDPS employes including police officers, dispatchers, security officers, administrative support staff and other first responders. This position is administratively housed and works under the clinical supervision of TCS, with a close collaborative relationship with TUDPS. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master's degree in psychology or social work with licensure (LPC or LCSW) in the state of Pennsylvania and two (2) years of directly related experience in crisis intervention and/or behavioral health support. Unlicensed candidates may be considered with the expectation of attainment of licensure in Pennsylvania within a year of hire for continued employment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities
*Must be able to manage being placed in high-intensity, stressful, emergent situations, while remaining calm and maintaining clear decision-making abilities. *Ability to provide consultation to TCS staff, TCS trainees, administration, faculty, staff, students, and families regarding mental health issues. *Ability to provide Critical Incident Stress management debriefing and other interventions for traumatized community members. *Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, along with the ability to work independently and efficiently. *Ability to facilitate transport for emergency psychiatric evaluations to local emergency facilities. *Ability to manage multiple collaborative projects and systems in a fast-paced environment. *Established commitment to multicultural competencies and cultural humility. *Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and sensitivity to cross cultural issues, with a supportive approach to colleagues. *Experience with content areas and treatment modalities common to a college counseling center setting, including trauma informed care, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Preferred
*Previous experience working in a college counseling center setting or with law enforcement. *Prior experience with the delivery of short-term, solution-focused clinical services This position will be on-site.
This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.
