You'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of APM (Automated People Mover) vehicles and selected wayside systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as wayside and infrastructure engineers), provide technical support for troubleshooting and upgrades, and contribute to engineering solutions and safety compliance.

You’ll specifically take care of developing and validating engineering solutions for APM systems, but also managing engineering change documentation and supporting site teams with technical justifications.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Preparing and managing engineering change documentation for designated systems

  • Providing technical support for troubleshooting and upgrades of designated subsystems

  • Collaborating with wayside and infrastructure engineers to ensure integrated solutions

  • Supporting site teams with CARP documentation and technical justifications

  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations

  • Functioning as a liaison between O&M Site Engineering and Design Authority representatives/vendors

  • Supporting APM O&M sites or end customers on technical subjects as needed

  • Identifying opportunities for fleet and wayside upgrades, modifications, and improvements

  • Providing technical governance and leadership for regional and global engineering initiatives

  • Chairing or supporting user groups and global community calls to resolve issues and spread best practices

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience in APM, railway, or similar mechanical/civil engineering roles

  • Experience with track/railway systems, switches, or heavy construction projects

  • Understanding of wiring, power distribution, control systems, onboard electronics, and signaling interfaces

  • Ability to travel 50% or more, including short-notice assignments

  • Strong ability to identify opportunities for standard solutions and architectures to maximize reuse and minimize rework

  • Commitment to resolving obsolescence and safety issues across multiple fleets

  • Ability to Identify opportunities to maximize the use of best cost engineering resources in delivering both global and regional engineering initiatives.
  • Proficiency in providing technical governance and leadership for services projects

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards leadership or advanced technical roles

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
