DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide supportive and supplemental services to children and families within their homes. The Social Services Aide works closely with caseworkers and social workers as part of a collaborative team, helping to enhance the intensity and effectiveness of service delivery. Team members are expected to carry out their roles with a high level of sensitivity, skill, and independent judgment. The position also requires the ability to testify credibly in court regarding observations and assessments.

Duties include delivering family support services in the home, assuming assigned responsibilities within each family situation, and meeting with the primary caseworker and supervisor to clarify expectations for each case. The aide participates in initial family introductions, where roles and responsibilities are outlined to support case planning.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 2; or

  • Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or

  • An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience in a human services agency; or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must pass a background investigation.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
