This position will be mainly remote. Office located in downtown West Chester and will be asked to attend in person as needed.

Job Summary: The System Administrator II joins a team of dynamic technology professionals and carries responsibilities in provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, security and maintenance of enterprise grade technology systems. Additionally, this individual participates and sometimes leads technical projects and research which enable continuing innovation within the enterprise. The position carries significant responsibility and will excel with a candidate that brings creativity and ingenuity to manage a wide breadth of secure technical systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, accounts etc. in accordance with standards and security/project/operational requirements;
  • Identify, install and configure systems supporting infrastructure, cloud, and business applications;
  • Develop and maintain an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies;
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards;
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies;
  • Research, recommend, and innovative where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale;
  • Configure, upgrade, support, maintain and secure the organization’s servers (physical and virtual), firewalls, applications, cloud network infrastructure, and external cloud applications;
  • Provide Tier II, and III/other support per request from various constituencies.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues. This includes leveraging AI tools to resolve technical issues more efficiently and accelerate root cause analysis during troubleshooting;
  • Ensure security utilizing the zero trust model, through access controls and firewalls;
  • Understand key systems and communicate how they work and are connected;
  • Provide on call coverage, as scheduled;
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all resources (physical and virtual), systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs according to requirements. Ensure the timely escalation of any alarmed problems;
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions, risks, and provide mitigations;
  • Perform all tasks and responsibilities with security as the core principle and ensure that all current and any new processes follow company security standards and safeguards;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using clear and effective communication to support business initiatives and resolve issues efficiently;
  • Manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects with strong time management and prioritization skills;
  • Support and optimize Azure-based services and infrastructure, including identity, networking, and security components;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs). To succeed in the System Administrator II position, candidates should possess the following KSAs:
    • REQUIRED
      • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role;
      • Microsoft 365 (AZURE AD, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) management;
      • High attention to detail and superior organizational and time-management skills;
      • Ability to balance competing priorities and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines;
      • Working knowledge of cloud service platforms, preferably Azure. Ability to work through and understand cloud computing concepts and security.
      • Excellent communication skills.
      • Demonstrate resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude, have the ability to provide logical and creative solutions;
      • Working knowledge of network administration, topology, DNS, SSL certificates, IP addressing and subnets.
      • Able to establish and maintain effective business relationships with users, internal colleagues and external contacts.
      • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
      • Ability to create scripts in Python, PowerShell, Perl or other language.
      • Familiarity with various operation systems and platforms.
      • Strong system security principles.
      • Professional firewall experience (configuration and administration);
      • Experience with AI-enhanced IT operations tools (e.g., predictive analytics, anomaly detection, automated remediation) is a plus;
      • Experience managing resources in Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform;
      • Have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently in situations where documentation or internal wikis may be incomplete or unavailable.
    • PREFERRED
      • Exchange or Office 365 mailbox management;
      • Comfort working with Active Directory, Windows permissions, TCP/IP, DNS, Telnet, DHCP, FTP/SFTP, SSL/IPSEC VPN, LAN/WAN, and remote device and patch management.
      • Remote endpoint management, preferably Microsoft Intune;
      • Management of Remote Desktop environment, preferably Microsoft VDI or Cloud PC;
      • Single Sign On management;
      • Cloud application management;
      • Windows Server and Linux Operating System experience;
      • Working knowledge of Zero Trust architecture;
      • Experience with Email firewall systems.
      • Implementation and tuning of an enterprise SIEM.
    • Background Experiences. The following are required unless otherwise noted:
      • BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline preferred, or High School graduate possessing demonstrated equivalent System Administration experience.
      • Minimum 3 – 5+ years (5 preferred) full-time experience in professional systems administration.
      • Industry (server / network / security) certifications preferred (e.g. Microsoft Certified Security or Azure Administrator is a plus).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Company’s West Chester office; the incumbent is expected to be present and accessible for at least 40 hours per week, subject to approved leave time, travel and other absences as described in the Employee Handbook or as otherwise agreed by the Company. The Company’s standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
