Part-Time Live-In Caregiver for Woman with ALS – Room, Meals + $880/Month
Home caregiver - starting in ~April or May 2026
Summary: We are seeking a person who is looking for free accommodation and a small monthly stipend in exchange for providing part-time care for an ALS patient. We anticipate the home caregiver will provide 4-5 hours of support/day, split between the evening and the morning. They will also be on call overnight for emergencies. Specifically, we are seeking someone who can:
Tasks:
Help nurses/caregivers move an ALS patient from the bed to the chair and back (usually 2 times/day)
Support body care (bathing/ toileting) for an ALS patient who is bed-bound
Do shopping / pick up prescriptions as necessary (via paid Uber or Lyft or mileage reimbursement if you have your own car)
Light housekeeping (vacuuming, laundry, keeping the kitchen neat and tidy)
Provide overnight emergency care as required
Cook two to three vegetarian meals/week (optional)
Other tasks as assigned
Experience:
Able to use Uber / Lyft to run errands or have a car
Comfortable with a friendly dog
Willing to learn
Good communicator
Good basic cooking skills (can make coffee, tea, toast, etc.)
Comfortable with a patient with a serious illness
Able to pass a drug test
Good basic credit

Remuneration: Free furnished or unfurnished private room with a shared bathroom and shared kitchen. All utilities included (electric, water, trash, internet). House located about 30 minutes by public transit to PSU (~3 miles to Rec Hall). Time off can be scheduled in coordination with other caregivers and family members in advance. Monthly stipend of $880 for an expected ~88 hours of work/month.
