Quality Manager

The Quality Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System (QMS), primarily focused on ISO 9001 standards. This hands-on position requires a strong presence on the production floor to mentor a team of quality inspectors and technicians, resolve quality issues, and foster a company-wide culture of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • QMS Management: Lead and maintain the entire ISO 9001 QMS, including documentation, internal audit programs, management reviews, and successful preparation for external certification audits.
  • Quality Control & Inspection: Develop and execute quality assurance protocols, including detailed inspection plans for incoming materials, in-process production, and final products using precision gauges (e.g., micrometers, calipers, comparators).
  • Team Leadership: Partnering with operational leadership on quality standards, policies, best practices, and the use of inspection tools.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate customer complaints and internal non-conformances (NCRs), performing root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma) initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce scrap/waste, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and manage quality documentation such as Production Part Approval Process (PPAPs), First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) data. Collect, analyze, and present quality data and metrics to senior management.
  • Supplier Quality: Work closely with suppliers to ensure the quality of all purchased components and materials meets the required standards.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with relevant industry standards, customer specifications, and health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance management/leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the metals industry (stamping, fabrication, machining).
  • Technical Skills: Total competence in ISO 9001:2015 QMS management and hands-on experience with dimensional inspection tools.
  • Certifications: ISO 9001 internal auditor certification or experience is preferred. Certifications in quality methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean are a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
