North East Sales Representative
We're seeking a driven Northeast Sales Representative to expand our market presence throughout the Northeast corridor (PA, NJ, NY, CT, MA, RI, NH, VT, ME). The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the food-grade tanker industry, deep customer relationships, and a consultative selling approach to win new business and grow existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new food-grade tanker accounts, including manufacturers, co-packers, and distributors
- Conduct prospecting activities-cold calls, industry networking, and trade show participation-to build a robust sales pipeline.
Account Management:
- Serve as the primary liaison for assigned customers, ensuring service excellence and proactive communication.
- Develop and execute customized solutions that meet customer requirements for scheduling, routing, and product handling.
Revenue Growth & Forecasting:
- Achieve and exceed annual sales targets and revenue goals.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and market analyses for the Director of Sales.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Operations, Dispatch, and Safety teams to ensure seamless onboarding and service delivery.
- Provide market feedback to product and operations teams to refine service offerings.
Contract Negotiation & Pricing:
- Lead negotiations on pricing, contract terms, and service-level agreements.
- Maintain margin integrity while offering competitive solutions.
Industry & Competitive Intelligence:
- Stay current on industry regulations (FDA, HACCP, GMP) and competitive landscape.
- Leverage insights to position Indian River Transport as a strategic partner.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of sales experience in the food-grade tanker or bulk liquid transportation industry.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success closing new business and growing existing accounts within the Northeast region.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of food-grade handling protocols, tank cleaning cycles, and DOT/Hazmat regulations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time across the Northeast corridor.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- Tools: Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
- On-site at the Bensalem, PA terminal with occasional travel to other facilities.
- Fast-paced, dynamic setting with direct oversight of shop, yard, and office operations.
