JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia. This position will primarily operate out of our commissary kitchen in Port Richmond, Philadelphia.

The Commissary Supervisor position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of and initiative in the Prepared Foods department. They are responsible for the preparation, packaging, and delivery of Riverwards in-house branded food products. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space. They will communicate frequently with market staff to ensure proper inventory practices are followed.

Reports to: Commissary Manager

Manages: Prepared Foods Staff

Responsibilities:

• Manages the schedule for production of prepared foods, prepack & cut cheese
• Manages daily numbers and prep lists to ensure proper backstock and production of prepared foods items
• Works with Commissary Manager and Prepared Foods Team to ensure all ingredients, packaging and supplies needed for production are ordered
• Works with Commissary Manager to create Prepared Foods training materials and conduct regular employee training as needed
• Prepares salads, sandwiches, dips, and other Riverwards house branded food products
• Receives deliveries and keeps a friendly rapport with delivery staff
• Ensures invoices are notated correctly and promptly submitted to CFO
• Maintains HACCP & ServSafe guidelines for preparation and transportation of food
• Maintains organized and clean storage areas for refrigerated/dry food as well as equipment
• Maintains a clean, organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space
• Properly cleans and maintains the commissary kitchen space
• Tracks inventory and movement of in-house products daily
• Works with the Commissary Manager to create new menu items

Requirements

• Experience working in the kitchen for a bar, restaurant, or caterer
• Clean and organized when working in a kitchen setting
• A diligent approach to safety and sanitation. ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing
• A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
• Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
• Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail orientation and ability to communicate easily and often with team and managers
• Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Experience receiving, processing, and/or merchandising specialty grocery in a retail setting
• A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
