Advanced Software Engineer - Test Systems Developer (Navy)

Acara Solutions seeks an Advanced Software Engineer - Test Systems Developer for our client in Canonsburg, PA. This is a long-term onsite contract position with an option to go contract-to-direct.

This is an active Secret clearance position. You must have an active Secret clearance to be considered.

• As an Advanced Software Engineer - Test Systems Developer for the Torpedo Systems Group, you will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for sustaining and creating software for embedded applications .
• You will participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
• Design, implement, and test software across the full Software Development Life Cycle.
• Support and enhance existing test systems for embedded applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technical solutions.
• Contribute to requirements analysis, architecture discussions, and design reviews.

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

* U.S. Citizen with an Active Secret clearance

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in C or C++.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in LabWindows/CVI .

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Master's Degree.
• Agile experience.
• Experience with Windows/Visual Studio.
• Experience in SQL/SQL Server or a similar relational database.
• Experience participating in technical architecture decisions for complex products.
• Experience with Windows kernel-level debugging and diagnostics using tools such as Windows DDK, WinDBG, or equivalent.
• Experience developing, testing, and debugging software for Windows OS using Visual Studio IDE and Windows SDK.
• Experience with DevOps concepts such as:
  1. Implementing Version Control and standing up branching strategies.
  2. Automating processes for build, test, and deploy.
  3. Applied experience with agile/lean principles in software development.
• Comfortable in implementing ideas from scratch, owning major application features, and taking responsibility for their maintenance and improvement over time.
• Significant level of Windows application development architecture expertise (e.g., Win32 apps, WPF apps, WinUI 3 apps).
• Deep understanding of software design patterns such as MVVM, MVP, etc.
• Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Windows Low Level Systems development and API.

• Strong understanding of software development process, as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
