TITLE: PRE-K COUNTS AIDE (SEASONAL)
DEPARTMENT: CHILDREN’S CENTER
SUPERVISOR: CHILDREN’S CENTER DIRECTOR ==============================================================
PURPOSE:
To assist in the implementation of a quality Pre-K Counts program for children while guiding, educating and nurturing children in compliance with Day Care regulations published by the Department Health & Human Services.
POSITION DETAIL:
This is a seasonal non-exempt position budgeted for 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, between August 20 th and June 15 th annually (dates to be determined annually based on Warren County School District schedule).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with implementation of daily curriculum and activities for Pre-K Counts preschool class under the guidance of the Director and/or Group Supervisor.
- Ensure the confidentiality and protection of children’s rights, dignity, privacy, individuality and self-determination.
- Immediately report any incident/accident involving childcare, staff and/or children to Director or Group Supervisor, including any allegations or suspicions of abuse involving staff, volunteers and the children.
- Properly handle, administer and record any medications taken by the children under supervision of Director or Group Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe learning environment.
- Must remain flexible in work schedule.
- Assist with Pre-K Counts holiday programs, graduation and other related special programs.
- Participate in paid staff meetings, appropriate in-services, training and continuing education programs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; CDA; or completion of at least 2 years of full-time postsecondary study or equivalent.
- Must complete at least 2 hours of continuing professional education each year in early childhood education and development. Acceptable formats include Act 48-eligible courses, college credits or training by DHS-certified instructors.
- CPR Certification
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Genuine commitment to children.
- Good hearing, speech and vision.
- Willingness to be potentially exposed to communicable diseases, as well as all behaviors that can be demonstrated by children.
- Must have Act 33, Act 34, FBI background clearances, and Sex Offender Registry (NSOAR).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Mobility and Stamina
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during the day.
- Capacity to bend, kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor to interact with children at their level.
- Ability to move quickly in emergencies or to assist children in need.
- Strength and Lifting
- Capability to lift, carry, or move children up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to lift and move classroom materials, toys, and furniture as needed.
- Hand and Finger Dexterity
- Manual dexterity to perform tasks such as writing, cutting, and manipulating small objects.
- Ability to assist children with dressing, eating, and hygiene activities.
- Balance and Coordination
- Ability to maintain balance while standing or engaging in physical activities with children.
- Coordination to participate in and lead physical activities, such as dancing or playing games.
- Vision
- Clear vision to supervise children and monitor classroom activities.
- Ability to see details at close range for reading, crafting, or observing children’s work.
- Hearing
- Ability to hear and respond to children’s needs, both in quiet and noisy environments.
- Capability to detect alarms, cries, or other sounds indicating an emergency.
- Speech and Communication
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively to give instructions, read aloud, and interact with children and parents.
- Outdoor Activities
- Ability to participate in outdoor activities, including walking, running, and playing, in various weather conditions.
- Classroom Environment
- Ability to work in a classroom setting that may include frequent noise, activity, and sensory stimuli.
- Health and Safety
- Physical ability to enforce health and safety standards, such as proper hygiene practices, and to perform basic first aid.
- Immunizations and health clearances as required by the facility or local regulations.
