N/A Job Description Comments From This Job Announcement Summary Performs skilled administrative support work providing specialized services and programs for the library, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Outreach and Community Engagement Manager. The normal work schedule includes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and/or Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and every other Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. per month Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include " Provides technical and reference assistance to children, parents, teachers, and other customers, at Outreach locations, the Main Library, the Spangler Branch, community partner facilities, and satellite branch locations. " Assists the Outreach and Community Engagement Manager in scheduling, planning, and presenting youth services and adult services programs. " Assists in planning, publicizing, and conducting story times, Summer Reading Programs, Battle of the Books and other reading promotions. " Will deliver library materials (books, A/V materials, and kits) driving a van or the bookmobile. " Instructs customers in how to use the library and its print and electronic resources; assists the public in person, by telephone, or via virtual chat; gives out specific information and instructions. " According to the Crew Manual of weeding or the deselection of materials, remove materials from the library's catalog; process customer hold requests, and requests for new materials. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED and 1-3 years' experience in customer service, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities " Knowledge of integrated library systems and applications " Microsoft office and/or Google Suite " Knowledge of library collection development best practices, materials and research techniques " Ability to analyze records and statistics " Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment " Ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing " Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library customers, library staff, and community partners. Work Location: This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.
