Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Control (SQC) Inspector is responsible for managing supplier quality control activities, resources, and competencies while ensuring harmonization across the organization. This role ensures that purchased equipment conforms to purchase orders, applicable rules, codes, and specifications. The SQC Inspector also manages supplier-related risks to ensure reliable delivery of goods and services that meet quality standards and customer requirements.
Job Description
- Accountable for the execution of Supplier Quality Control (SQC) activities on assigned projects
- Establishes and manages SQC strategies, including development and maintenance of Project Expediting & Inspection Plans (PEIP)
- Evaluates and estimates SQC manhours and costs
- Provides support during proposal development, PEIP creation, and Preliminary Inspection Meetings (PIM)
- Performs inspections based on approved strategies, including Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameters
- Ensures conformity of purchased equipment with contractual and technical requirements
- Acts as the primary point of contact for U.S. inspection assignments supporting global engineering and construction centers
- Coordinates and leads SQC activities in collaboration with third-party inspection agencies and internal peers
- Supports projects with manufacturing, quality control, and certification-related issues
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives related to processes, standards, and knowledge capitalization
- Coordinates inspection resources, including agencies and internal personnel
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills Required
- 10 years of Quality Control experience
- 5 years of Manufacturing experience
- 5 years of Project Execution experience
- Industrial gas industry, mechanics, or boilermaking background preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Drive, etc.)
- Working knowledge of SAP, SRM tools, and Non-Conformities Management systems
- Strong knowledge of U.S. construction codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, AISC, IBC, etc.)
- Proficiency in: Fabrication processes, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), Materials and welding, Industrial gas equipment
- Working knowledge of U.S. statutory and regulatory requirements
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Additional Requirements
- API 510, API 570, API 653 certifications preferred
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred
