THE POSITION

Are you a USDA-accredited veterinarian licensed by the State Board with at least one year of experience? The Department of Agriculture is looking for qualified individuals to take on the role of Veterinary Medical Field Officer at the prestigious Meadows Racetrack in Washington County. In this esteemed position, you will oversee and manage medical procedures related to Thoroughbred and/or Standardbred racing activities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will leverage your veterinary expertise in regulatory medicine for thoroughbred and/or standardbred racetracks, overseeing the Bleeder Medication Program and activities within the test barn. Additionally, you will implement programs from the Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostic Services, ensuring compliance with legislatively mandated laws and regulations in your designated PDA region to facilitate effective animal disease surveillance and control.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • ne year of professional experience as a veterinarian and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or a Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited college or university.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a license to practice veterinary medicine as issued by a state board of veterinary medical examiners.

  • PA residency requirement ( is currentlywaivedfor this title.
