Salary Range: Grade 42. $58,000 – 70,000 plus health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, vision and dental and other benefits per personnel policy.

Required Criteria: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood education, child development, elementary education, human services, or special education or other related field.

Preferred Criteria:

· 2-4 year experience working with children

· Certification in CPR, First Aid

· State Police and Child Abuse clearances

· Demonstrated experience in fiscal management

· Demonstrated experience managing staff

Position Description:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in accordance with the mission, the Director of School Age Childcare is responsible for providing leadership in the development, coordination, planning, administration, and supervision of children’s programs for Hempfield recCenter. Some of the responsibilities include the Before and After School program and Summer Day Camp. A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, Special Education or related field is required with two to four years supervisory experience is preferred. The incumbent must be certified in CPR, FA, and AED. State Police and Child Abuse Clearances and FBI required. Must be highly motivated, organized and detail oriented. The incumbent must be able to manage multiple projects and willing to learn and accept new responsibilities and work effectively as part of the management team. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary in dealing with all levels of staff and members.

Facilities: 110,000 sq. ft. facility on 22 acres. Facility consists of 6 indoor tennis courts, fitness center, full size gymnasium, 25 meter six lane swimming pool, outdoor feature pool and wading pool, two fitness studios, four locker rooms, 10 outdoor tennis courts, 4 conference rooms and administration offices.

Budget: Organization budget is $6.3million. Hempfield Rec has nearly 6,000 members.

Staff: Hempfield recCenter has 150 staff – 15 full time staff. Staffing increases to nearly 250 over the summer months.
