Supplier Quality Engineer

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will ensure that purchased parts and products delivered to ALSTOM facilities meet our high standards. This individual will perform incoming inspections, follow sampling procedures, and uphold product compliance before materials enter production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections in accordance with the Incoming Control Plan.
- Accept or reject products based on the inspection instructions/checklist.
- Record inspection results using required digital tools.
- Document non‑conformities accurately, including clear characterization.
- Manage non‑conformity activities: creating Quality Management orders, blocking inventory, and triggering NCR (Non‑Conformity Report) resolution through appropriate ERP tasks.
- Ensure all inspection instrumentation and equipment are calibrated.
- Maintain controlled document files and test records with accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in writing or updating inspection procedures, control plans, and checklists.
- Inspect and sort materials as part of inventory purges as directed by SQ Serial or Supply Chain.
- Inform Supply Chain and Supplier Quality teams of defects and potential impacts on part availability.
- Coordinate external inspection or lab testing when required, in collaboration with the Incoming Inspection leader.
- Support Incoming Inspection leader and SQ Serial by providing data for KPIs.
- Participate in daily meetings and address daily priorities as set by the Incoming Inspection leader.
Performance Metrics
- Complete inspections within the allocated lead times; ensure priority inspections are done on time.
- Accuracy in defect characterization and correct execution of NCRs and ERP blocking/notifications.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement: aim for a decrease in the quantity of non‑functional NCRs detected during the production cycle from incoming inspections.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience:
- Proven experience in incoming inspection, quality control, or similar roles.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems and digital tools.
- Strong documentation and inspection skills.
- Skills / Competencies:
- Attention to detail; able to clearly document non‑conformities and follow corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with sampling procedures, control plans, checklists.
- Good communication skills (written & verbal).
- Ability to use calibrated measurement tools and maintain records.
- Organized and timely in maintaining documentation.
- Team‑oriented; responsive in support of daily priorities.
