Modernization Engineer - Cloud & Application Development

We are looking for a Modernization Engineer with deep expertise in transforming legacy systems into modern, cloud-enabled applications. The ideal candidate combines strong coding skills with cloud experience to analyze, refactor, and modernize legacy assets, enabling scalable and reusable solutions for business applications.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Duration: 11 months

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze IT requirements and translate them into components of modernized solutions using modernization frameworks.

• Perform legacy asset analysis, code restructuring, refactoring, and conversion. Extract business logic and convert it into executable business rules.

• Work with legacy platforms and design integrations and service interfaces for reuse across modern systems.

• Develop and test applications in cloud environments, with a focus on AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, and Elastic Cache .

• Participate in delivery or engagement teams, contributing to solution design, implementation, and deployment.

• Reuse and enhance digital modernization assets, methods, and collateral for future projects.

• Develop web-based UIs using React and ensure integration with backend systems, streaming platforms, and messaging queues like Kafka and MQ .

• Implement CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of professional experience in Python ; experience with Java is highly desirable.

• Strong experience with cloud integration , particularly AWS .

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines , web-based UI development ( React ), and streaming/messaging systems ( Kafka, MQ ).

• Familiarity with legacy modernization frameworks and practices.

• Knowledge of modern cloud architecture patterns and reusable solution components.

Nice to Have:

• Experience or exposure to Palantir platforms.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
