Fire Protection Engineer

Job Details:

My client is a highly advanced Engineering and Architectural Consulting firm that does a lot with pharm and manufacturing. They are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer who is degreed and has years of fire suppression systems engineering using Revit Design. Details include:

• Drive design and engineering of fire suppression systems, both water-based and non-water based.
• See fire protection system design projects from early-stage feasibility through construction and project closeout.
• Act as technical leader to all staff for Building, Fire, and Life Safety Codes as well as Insurance Underwriter’s requirements on all high-risk projects including hazardous materials.
• Development of standards and procedures for high-risk project execution from request for proposal through full design, delivery, construction, and commissioning project life cycle.
• Provide oversight, coordination, and quality control of Life Safety Systems and components including Fire Alarm, Hazardous Materials, and smoke management systems for a national project portfolio.
• Identification and classification of hazardous materials for use in and development of code studies and design projects.
• Oversight and coordination amongst the Genesis hazardous materials team, development of standards, and responsibilities of each trade within this group.
• Support code studies for high-risk projects, including all fire protection and life safety requirements.
• Aid in HAZOPS, risk assessments, calculations for explosion and flammability concentration limits and dust control as performed by the Genesis Process Engineering department.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Fire Protection Design Standards including standard details, schedules, specifications, etc.
• Collaborate and review project proposals that include hazardous materials and are deemed high risk.
• Attend and participate in client presentations and project meetings when required.
• Participate in early client project or proposal descope meetings/presentations as SME to help establish direction or to represent Genesis outside the firm
• Assist management in the tactical delivery of strategic objectives as it relates to Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems.
