Assistant Plant Manager

Compensation: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00
Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Responsibilities
- Support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness
- Coordinate all plant activities, including production scheduling, workforce supervision, process improvement, and maintenance
- Act as a key leader in achieving operational goals and developing a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensure the shop is open and ready for employees to arrive; report attendance issues
- Assist in managing daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and logistics
- Hold production meetings to review daily schedules
- Work with Shop Supervisors to meet production goals and motivate employees
- Help with set-ups to speed up production as needed
- Plan production needs ahead of schedule, including materials and headcount
- Coach employees on performance improvements and issue avoidance
- Record employee productivity and personnel issues, providing documentation to HR
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to create production schedules
- Ensure parts are where they need to be for production
- Maintain quality and quantity standards according to company policies
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders; assign duties accordingly
- Work with Plant Manager to establish or adjust work schedules to meet demands
- Ensure safety procedures are followed by all team members
- Oversee welding tests and shop tours for candidates
- Provide hiring feedback and decisions in coordination with the Plant Manager
- Supervise and direct Maintenance team to ensure shop efficiency
Requirements
- 5+ years of Supervisory/Management within Manufacturing
- Ideal candidate will come from Welding/Metal Fabrication industry
- Lean/Six Sigma Experience Preferred
