Field Service Engineer
Our client, a manufacturing company, is hiring a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery at customer sites throughout the greater Philadelphia region. This role combines hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting with direct customer interaction, requiring someone comfortable working independently in the field.
The position involves regular travel to client facilities for scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, and new equipment commissioning. The engineer will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls issues on complex production equipment, document service work, and recommend preventive maintenance plans to extend equipment life and reduce customer downtime.
This is a full-time, on-site role based out of the Philadelphia headquarters with travel to client locations across the region. The company offers a company vehicle, tools, and ongoing technical training on new equipment lines.
Responsibilities
- Install and commission new industrial equipment at customer sites
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance visits for assigned accounts
- Respond to emergency service calls within contracted response times
- Document all service work, parts used, and recommendations in service reports
- Train customer operators and maintenance staff on proper equipment use
- Coordinate with engineering and parts departments to resolve recurring issues
- Maintain accurate inventory of service vehicle parts and tools
Requirements
- Associate degree or technical certification in electromechanical technology or related field
- 4 or more years of field service or industrial maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of PLCs, motor controls, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong troubleshooting skills under time pressure
- Ability to travel regionally up to 75% of the time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing work
