Tank Trailer Mechanic- Motor Carrier Fleet (NON-HAZMAT) - ZMC Logistics

Purpose

To furnish timely and efficient in-house repairs, services and inspections to a fleet of food and feed tankers that transport sweetener-related products while complying with company and DOT policy, procedure, and regulations. Minimize equipment downtime.

Job description

You will repair, maintain/service, and inspect food and feed liquid tank trailers, multi-compartment tank straight trucks, dry bulk pneumatic tankers and associated component parts, liquid hydraulic pumping systems, electrical systems, brake systems, suspension systems, valves, piping and tires. Welding ability a must. You will also repair, service, and inspect dry van trailers as needed. Experience performing basic PM service on various makes of tractor a plus. MUST have own set of basic hand tools and toolbox for heavy trucks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of equipment.
• Perform services and annual inspections on all equipment in compliance with all applicable D.O.T. requirements.
• Maintain a Class 7 inspection license.
• CDL A license preferred, and a plus.
• Responsible for providing your own basic heavy truck/trailer hand tools and toolbox. Specialty tools provided as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized work area.
• Perform additional duties and projects as needed.
• Complete work-orders legibly in a timely manner ensuring all labor and parts are captured.
• Road call or travel between our other shop facility utilizing our service vehicle as needed.
• Maintain excellent attendance and on-time arrival.

Education/Training/Experience

• CDL A commercial driver’s license, or ability to obtain within 120 days.
• Class 7 Inspection License.
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic with tank trailer experience.
• Welding experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to carry, push and pull up to 55 pounds and heavier w/assistance.
• Ability to seek assistance with moving objects that may cause injury.
• Ability to stand, kneel, sit, bend, stoop, reach or climb for extended periods or multiple times.
• Be able to work in all types of climates.

Shift and Schedule:

• Monday through Friday - daytime
• Overtime, as warranted and approved
• Paid on-call rotation
• Ability to work occasional weekends/evenings if/as needed
