Postdoctoral Fellowships in Barrier Immunology

Fully funded positions are available for highly motivated candidates interested in investigating mechanisms of inflammation and innate immunity during infections and chronic inflammatory diseases, including atopic dermatitis and cancer. Approaches will include advanced 3D and organoid cell culture systems, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, advanced imaging approaches, and knockout/transgenic mouse models of disease. The research environment provides extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in immunology, inflammation, genomics, and cancer biology.

Current studies aim to:

• Identify novel anti-inflammatory pathways in the skin
• Characterize unconventional extra- and intracellular antiviral restriction mechanisms
• Determine how these processes maintain tissue homeostasis
• Define how dysregulation of these pathways contributes to cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases

Requirements:

• Recent Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, microbiology, virology, or a related field
• Peer-reviewed publications in immunology, virology, signal transduction, and/or related disciplines
• Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, signal transduction, cell culture methods, and/or mouse models of disease
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Willingness and ability to work with mice and infectious materials

Philadelphia is a major East Coast city with extensive cultural and recreational opportunities. Unlike many US cities, Philadelphia has an excellent public transportation system. The city is home to numerous museums, galleries, theaters, and sports venues, as well as a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene. Outdoor and recreational opportunities are plentiful, with skiing and snowboarding available in the Pocono Mountains during winter and beaches in New Jersey and Delaware within easy reach during summer. In addition, New York City and Washington, DC are only 1.5–2 hours away by train or car.
