Commodity Specialist IT Division

The Department of General Services, Bureau of Procurement, is seeking a Commodity Specialist to tend to professional administrative work involving the procurement of information technology (IT) services and supplies for the Commonwealth, including the support of Commonwealth Enterprise contracts. As a Commodity Specialist within the IT division, you will be responsible for the administration of procurement activities from the development and implementation of the procurement strategy to the management of contracts and the supply base for assigned goods and services. You will be collecting and analyzing commodity data to develop an understanding of market dynamics (through market research) and agency needs pertaining to specific goods and services. We are looking for someone with the ability to interpret and implement procurement laws, policies, and regulations and troubleshoot issues or concerns as they arise. You will be developing complex contracts and overseeing contract administration. Strong interpersonal skills are vital, as you will be developing and maintaining working relationships with key agency personnel for assigned goods and services in order to foster a team approach to contract administration.

- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

- Two years of experience as a Purchasing Agent (commonwealth title); or
- One year of experience as a Purchasing Agent Supervisor or Procurement Specialist 1 (commonwealth title); or
- Five years of strategic procurement experience, which includes researching and evaluating commodities and suppliers; or
- One year of strategic procurement experience and a bachelor's degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
