Job Description

The 2nd Shift Test Technician performs electrical and mechanical testing of circuit breakers and related components, ensuring that all products meet established test standards, inspection procedures, and quality requirements. This role involves reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics, calibrating test instruments, analyzing test results, and documenting findings on non-conforming products. The technician works closely with engineers, other technicians, and production staff to resolve testing issues and support continuous improvement on the production floor during the 2pm–10:30pm shift.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics accurately to perform testing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Calibrate test instruments in accordance with applicable test standards, inspection procedures, and documented work instructions.
  • Test the functional performance of circuit breakers using electrical and mechanical test methods, including high voltage testing and visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting on units that do not meet specifications, identifying root causes of failures where possible.
  • Analyze test results on defective or non-conforming units, document findings clearly, and create detailed reports on non-conforming products.
  • Use a variety of test equipment to verify that products meet required performance and safety standards.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to confirm that products comply with quality and design requirements.
  • Collaborate and confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and other stakeholders to resolve testing issues and improve test procedures.
  • Follow established inspection and test procedures to ensure consistency and reliability of testing processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle test equipment and materials in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing as needed, especially while the operation is being built out and processes are refined.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics efficiently.
  • Proficiency in calibrating test instruments and applying test standards, inspection procedures, and test documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing of circuit breakers or similar electrical equipment.
  • Ability to perform functional performance testing using electrical and mechanical test methods, including high voltage testing.
  • Strong skills in electrical troubleshooting and diagnosing issues on non-conforming or defective units.
  • Ability to analyze test results, identify non-conformances, and document findings in a clear and organized manner.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment in a manufacturing or testing environment.
  • Capability to perform visual and dimensional inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Effective communication skills to work with engineers, technicians, and production personnel to resolve testing problems.
  • Ability to work the 2nd shift schedule from 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in electrical wiring and electrical assembly in a manufacturing or test environment.
  • Familiarity with structured inspection and test procedures and quality documentation practices.
  • Comfort working with high voltage testing equipment and associated safety practices.
  • Experience in a large, clean, and climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
  • Willingness to train on a different shift (such as daylight) while the operation is being built out and processes are established.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed to support precision electrical testing and assembly work. Openings are available across multiple shifts, including 1st shift (6:00am–2:30pm), 2nd shift (2:00pm–10:30pm), and 3rd shift (10:00pm–6:30am), with a shift differential provided for 2nd and 3rd shift schedules. The operation is in a build-out phase and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year, with candidates initially training on a daylight schedule before transitioning to their regular shift. Technicians work with a range of electrical test equipment, including high voltage testing systems, and perform both mechanical and electrical evaluations of circuit breakers and related components. The environment supports close collaboration with engineers, technicians, and production teams, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to established testing procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $66560.00/yr.

They offer 3 different benefit packages for health/dental/vision, match 50% of what you contribute to your 401k up to 8% (they'd match 4), offer 3 food trucks on site Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday for all employees, paid holidays, financial advisor and health coach available. PTO Schedule: 0-4 years = 10 Days. 5-14 years = 15 days. 15-19 years = 20 days. 20-29 years = 25 days. If needing to use pto for more than 3 days at a time, must be submitted before 2 weeks of timeframe.
