Hydraulic & Powertrain Assembly Specialist — Crane Products

Join our team as a Hydraulic & Powertrain Assembly Specialist — Crane Products. Reporting to a Production Supervisor, you’ll plan layouts and assemble crane sub‑assemblies and complete builds that meet rigorous quality and throughput goals. You’ll actively contribute to Lean, 5S, and TPR initiatives to improve safety, flow, and reliability.

What you’ll do
- Read blueprints and follow shop orders, specifications, and work instructions to perform assigned operations.
- Assemble crane sub‑assemblies and final assemblies; operate and function‑check sub‑assemblies to verify performance.
- Connect, adjust, and replace hydraulic controls, pumps, rams, solenoids, valves, gauges, piping, and hoses.
- Install and connect air/vacuum system components including tanks, hoses, and tubing.
- Mount, hook up, and connect engines, gear boxes, axles, and other power components.
- Inspect all parts and work for correct form, fit, and function at each stage.
- Perform and verify torque operations; record values in the logbook.
- Maintain log entries for serial numbers, models, brands, and other critical data.
- Detect and report defective materials, faulty operations, or unusual conditions; repair/replace components as required.
- Assist in maintaining steady workflow through the department and support continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, TPR).
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervision.
Must‑have capabilities
- Arithmetic fluency with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Blueprint literacy; confident with tape measures and other measuring devices.
- Timely completion of all safety training mandated by governing agencies.
Background
- High school diploma or GED preferred; technical/vocational diploma a plus.
- Prefer 3 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
Bonus skills
- Laptop proficiency for downloading programs, setting parameters, and clearing error codes.
- Certification in A/C system charging and leak detection.

This position is located on the production shop floor, in multiple buildings, and may be required to work outside in various weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Incumbent will work in a typical assembly environment including the use of solvents, adhesives, hydraulic oil, petroleum products, etc. There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds.
