A day in the life

As an NPI Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you are the connective tissue between engineering, quality, programs, and the supplier ecosystem for early-stage product development. Your morning might start with a manufacturability review to ensure a supplier can scale a prototype to production; midday, you’re running an RFQ and analyzing quotes to meet cost and schedule targets; by afternoon, you’re updating BOM cost models, validating compliance needs (DFARS, ITAR, AS9100), and preparing sourcing documentation for program reviews and audits.

Your impact

• Translate program milestones into sourcing strategies that align with engineering and quality objectives.
• Find, assess, and onboard suppliers for both prototype builds and production ramps—ensuring DFARS, ITAR, and AS9100 requirements are satisfied.
• Lead RFQ/RFP cycles, perform should-cost and quote analysis, and negotiate commercial terms to hit budget and timeline commitments.
• Own accurate BOM cost estimates and keep sourcing files audit-ready for gate reviews.
• Track supplier performance, mitigate risk, and support make-versus-buy and capability assessments.
• Collaborate in design and DFM/DFA reviews to confirm supplier readiness and scalability.
• Continuously improve cost, lead time, and innovation across the supply base.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
• 5–8+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supplier engineering, ideally with NPI/NPD exposure.
• Background in aerospace, defense, automotive, or advanced electronics manufacturing.
• Depth in sourcing methods, negotiation, supplier relationship management, and cost modeling.
• Working knowledge of DFARS, ITAR, and AS9100.
• Facility with ERP and sourcing platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Infor) and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Work model: Onsite work is preferred in New Kensington; a hybrid schedule may be available for the ideal candidate.
