THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections ,State Correctional Institution at Coal Township ( is seeking an organized, positive individual to provide clerical support at our facility. If you are a dedicated individual with a positive attitude, organized, and detail oriented, as well as having a strong interest in clerical work, this may be the position for you.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of your assigned institution. In this position, you will perform a variety of essential administrative tasks, including organizing and maintaining files, preparing and typing documents, and accurately entering data across multiple departments. You will also operate standard office equipment and help maintain computer databases and records to ensure information is accessible, accurate, and up to date. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will contribute to the smooth and efficient functioning of the institution.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.

  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration ) ; or

  • Graduation from high school;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • Must understand how to efficiently use and navigate a personal computer.

  • Must have two (2) years or more of experience with the Microsoft systems (Word/Excel/Outlook, etc.) and other software packages to create and maintain spreadsheets/calendars/documents/rosters etc.

  • Must have the ability to work with various office equipment such as: scanner, printer, fax machine, computer, tablet, telephone, personal communication devices etc.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
