As we continue our growth, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to provide strategic leadership across all Plumbing and HVAC operations. The General Manager will oversee project delivery, financial performance, field operations, and personnel management while driving efficiency, profitability, and company-wide standards of excellence.
Position Summary
The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the Plumbing and HVAC division. This role combines operational leadership, financial oversight, and strategic direction, ensuring that all projects meet company goals for safety, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction.
The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of mechanical construction, proven experience in managing multi-million-dollar projects, and strong leadership skills to build, motivate, and guide a growing team of project managers, foremen, and field staff.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide overall leadership and direction for all Plumbing and HVAC operations, ensuring excellence across every project.
· Oversee and support Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and Administrative staff to ensure efficient project execution.
· Develop and manage operational budgets, project profitability goals, and performance metrics.
· Review and approve major contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders, ensuring alignment with company standards and financial targets.
· Drive schedule performance and resource planning across multiple concurrent projects.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, vendors, inspectors, and subcontractors.
· Oversee compliance with state and local plumbing/HVAC codes, permits, and safety regulations.
· Implement and refine standardized project management systems (Contractor Foreman, Procore, Textura, etc.) across all teams.
· Conduct regular project reviews, site visits, and quality control checks.
· Lead recruitment, training, and professional development of field and office personnel.
· Collaborate with estimating and procurement teams on pre-construction planning and bid strategies.
· Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
· Report key performance metrics and financial results to executive leadership.
Qualifications
· Minimum 10–15 years of experience in mechanical construction, including at least 5 years in a senior management role.
· Strong background in plumbing and HVAC new construction for multi-family and commercial projects.
· Proven ability to manage multiple project teams and large-scale operations simultaneously.
· Deep understanding of blueprints, specifications, budgeting, and mechanical system design.
· Strong financial acumen, including experience managing P&L, cost controls, and forecasting.
· Proficiency in project management software (Contractor Foreman, Procore, Textura, or similar).
· OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
· Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
· Strong understanding of labor allocation, subcontractor management, and multi-state compliance.
· Experience scaling operations and managing multiple project teams or departments.
