Summer Camp Dorm Staff
Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic Camp Dorm Staff to join our team for an exciting summer camp experience! You will be responsible for leading activities, supervising campers, and fostering personal growth and development through various programs with campers in grades 2 thru 8. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about working with children and contributing to their memorable camp experiences.
We have two exciting weeks planned! Week One is Wizarding School…inspired by the Harry Potter series, Linden Hall is transformed into an American Wizarding School where campers will take classes in Potion Making, Nature Studies, Spells and Incantations. We will host day campers from July 13-17 and overnight campers from July 12–17.
Week 2 is Time Travel Adventure into Ancient Civilizations. Linden Hall discovered a time machine in the hidden depths of the basement…campers will travel to a different ancient civilization each day, navigating the cultures and using what they learn to help them get back home. We will host day campers from July 20–24 and overnight campers from July 19–24.
We are seeking Cabin Leaders and Weekend Staff.
“Cabin Leaders” (Evening Camp Dorm Staff)
- Preference for staff who can work every evening, Sunday to Thursday, but shifts may be broken up into alternating evenings to accommodate needs.
- Overnight camp shifts are typically 4:00-10:00, Sunday to Thursday.
- An additional shift may be required, Friday 4:00-6:00 for camper checkout.
- Additional shift 7:00-9:00 am available, Monday-Friday, to oversee camper wake up time and morning routines.
- Assist with afternoon and evening activities, leading small groups as required.
- Assist with attendance and bed checks.
- Monitor hygiene routines as needed.
- Oversee student camp counselors.
- Expected to help with material preparation and clean up as needed.
- Expected to attend a training session prior to camp.
- May need to administer camper medications at the direction of the School Nurse.
- Must be able to meet the needs of campers entering grades 3-8, with particular attention to home sickness, social, and behavioral needs.
- Reports to Assistant Camp Director and Summer Programs Director.
Weekend Staff
- Staff are needed to cover from 4:00 (or 6:00) Friday afternoon/evening through 4:00 Sunday afternoon the weekend between camp.
- Additional hours may be available the Saturday or Sunday prior to the start of camp for student counselor training.
- Shifts are arranged as needed based on staff availability, with 1-2 staff covering all of the hours, depending on the number of campers staying the weekend.
- Weekend activities may include on-campus games, movies, and crafts, or off-campus field trips and meals.
- May need to administer camper medications at the direction of the School Nurse.
- Must have a strong understanding of the needs of campers entering grades 3-8, especially in managing home sickness, social interactions, and behavioral needs.
- Expected to attend a training session prior to the start of camp.
- Reports to Assistant Camp Director and Summer Programs Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evening Activities: Assist the Residential Life Director in organizing and leading evening activities.
- Monitor Campers: Supervise the dormitory, ensuring campers are following guidelines and participating appropriately.
The pay rate for the Summer Camp positions listed is $16/hour.
Clearances Required:
- PA Child Abuse (Act 153)
- PA State Police (Act 34)
- FBI Fingerprint (Act 114)
