Student Services Assistant

Student Services Assistant Location Scranton, PA (Providence area) :

Johnson College is actively seeking a part time Student Services Assistant. This position is responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions and student support and student programming related tasks. The position will require collaboration with a variety of campus student support services meeting student, staff and faculty needs. Special projects, including tutoring services, campus events, data entry, and book distribution may also be assigned. This position will work during the semester Monday through Thursday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Resource Center is closed on holidays and weekends.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Performs day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files, processing paperwork, data entry, and creating documents.
• Provides reference and technical support to students, faculty, and staff
• Assist patrons with ready-reference questions including bibliographic instruction and database searching.
• Answers directional questions and refers patrons to appropriate personnel.
• Provide student support with learning management system and all-inclusive book access.
• Implement communication strategies including direct email and newsletter campaigns.
• Supports programmatic initiatives in collaboration with Student Success Coordinators.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficiency with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access, Outlook, and Power Point) software
• Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to relate effectively with students, institutional personnel & the public
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks

EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years' experience in a higher education environment preferably in the Library

EDUCATION: Associate's Degree Preferred
