GENERAL OVERVIEW

Provides prophylaxis treatments and education to patients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Calls the patient to confirm scheduled appointment.
• Evaluates patient, takes blood pressure, and reviews medical history prior to dental prophylaxis.
• Performs prophylaxis treatments, scaling and root planning, and periodontal probing.
• Documents overall oral hygiene in the patient chart for review by the dentist and ensures proper billing procedures.
• Explains procedure to patients/families and provides teaching instructions and or materials for home care. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• Current Pennsylvania Dental Hygiene License.

• CPR – American Heart Association

• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

• 1 year of dental hygienist experience preferred.
