We’re currently seeking a dynamic and creative Activity Manager for our Luther Acres Healthcare Center in Lititz. This is a full-time, exempt-level position.

WHAT YOU DO:
As the Activities Manager at the Luther Acres Healthcare Center, you lead the recreational program for residents in our skilled nursing center. Among your responsibilities, you will:
- Plan, organize, and schedule activities to rehabilitate, instruct, entertain and create socialization for healthcare center residents. Develop an activities program and/or therapeutic program tailored to residents’ individual interests, needs, and requirements. Implement with the assistance of activity team members and volunteers.
- Observe residents during activity participation and document progress in resident’s charts to record changes in behavior, attitude or deterioration. Document attendance as appropriate.
- Maintain inventory of supplies required for the department and activities programs. Order materials/equipment and communicate with the Purchasing Department as necessary.
- Orient, coordinate and oversee volunteers and staff in the delivery of activity programs. Maintain open communication to encourage recommendations and suggestions for activities. Coordinate an effective volunteer program. Meet with other department managers and consultants as necessary to share and gather data regarding the progress, efficiency and effectiveness of activity programs.
- Prepare and follow annual budget for the department. Examine financial requirements and performance to ensure operations fall within appropriate guidelines.
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team and other related groups as appropriate.
- Serve as a liaison to auxiliary and other external contacts for fund-raisers and other activity-related events.
- Coordinate in-house transportation for resident activities.
- Supervise employees in the department and maintain appropriate employee files. Ensure employee time records are maintained and follow through with disciplinary action as necessary. Perform annual and as-needed performance evaluations.
- Maintain a high degree of safety awareness, fall prevention and infection control practices and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities as required.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and continuing education sessions as required. Complete required mandatory training as assigned.
- Coordinate with the Transportation Department to provide transportation for special off-site activities.
- Promote and encourage successful outcome of resident activities, both group and individual.
ABOUT LUTHER ACRES:
Luther Acres – located in the charming, historic town of Lititz – is a Continuing Care Retirement Community with a long history of providing excellent care and services. It is part of Luthercare, which is a not-for-profit, faith-based, and mission-driven organization. Luthercare provides a network of services through its full continuum of care with two communities in Lancaster County. Luther Acres is home to nearly 600 residents who live in independent living cottages and apartments, personal care apartments, and the skilled nursing healthcare center.
EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid PA Driver’s License.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification with a related professional organization, such as NCAAP or CTRS.
ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE/ABILITES:
- Two (2) years of directly related experience in recreation, arts/crafts, or rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of the therapeutic use of activities and recreation and the methods and techniques of motivating the elderly.
- Ability to identify changes in behavior and attitude of elderly residents.
- Ability to perform the functions required to push a wheelchair and transport residents.
- Fit testing as needed per Luthercare’s Respiratory Prevention Program.
EXPOSURE TO HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is seldom.
PREFERRED JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE/ABILITES/EDUCATION:
- Associate’s degree (A.A or A.S) in a related field of study.
- One (1) year experience coordinating activities in a long-term care healthcare center.
