Salary:

Haverford Township Parks and Recreation is seeking an energetic and adventurous lead preschool teacher for a summer recreation program, Club 56. As a leader you will supervise campers, develop and implement daily activities, and provide a safe and fun camp environment. Club 56 is a summer camp designed for children ages 5-6 located at Normandy Park in Haverford Township.

This role requires strong leadership, enthusiasm, and is passionate about working with kids. Additionally, you will oversee 2-3 camp counselors who will assist with daily activities and camper supervision, with support from the Program Coordinator as needed.

The program will be based at the Normandy Park (2908 Normandy Rd., Ardmore, PA 19003)

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Strong ability to motivate, engage, and energize campers
• Experience working with preschoolers
• Education background is preferred, but not required
• Must be organized and have strong planning skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
• CPR & First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Must pass background clearances

Essential Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a group of 18-22 campers in daily activities
• Plan and implement 6 weeks of engaging summer camp themes
• Oversee the supplies needed for camp activities associated with camp themes
• Supervise 2-3 camp counselors, ensuring smooth program operations
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all campers feel safe, supported, and inspired
• Communicate effectively with camp counselors, parents, and the Program Coordinator
• Always ensure the safety and well-being of campers
• Weekly meetings with Site Leader team in the mornings prior to camp
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and outdoor safety concerns

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Active, outdoor-based role requiring regular movement, and physical engagement
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, and natural elements

Requires bending, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and carrying equipment up to 30 pounds
