Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Simulation Technician will work to handle the day-to-day tasks which must be performed to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Center for Excellence in Practice and related educational activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and contributes to the enhancement of a high performing learner-centered environment

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the simulation laboratories and associated equipment

  • Responsible for the preparation (set up, clean up and tear down) of simulation center activities including the simulation equipment, clinical supplies and additional equipment needed for the learning experience which occurs on a reptitive basis

  • Assists simulation faculty and manages technical functions during simulation experiences

  • Responsible for the clinical and simulation supply inventory

  • Maintains simulation equipment (simulators, task trainers, clinical equipment) with daily, weekly & monthly maintenance as well as annual preventative maintenance on patient simulators & task trainer models.

  • Collaborates in the pre-planning for overall simulation training and events.

  • Using tools such as: High, medium and low fidelity healthcare simulators; gas compressors; medical gases with accompanying lines and valves; portable and stationary gas compressors; mounted cameras; view boards; transport litters, Screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, utility knives, hemostats, electrical multi-meter, medical supplies

  • Provides excellent customer service to faculty, learners, clients, visitors and staff of the Center for Excellence in Practice through positive, respectful and professional communication via conversation, phone or email.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains professional competency through participation in continuing education programs, literature review, and membership in discipline specific organizations.

  • Provides tours of the simulation laboratories, providing basic technological demonstrations

  • Participates in University initiatives and support the University mission and goals.

  • Recommends solutions or suggestions for improving the Center for Excellence in Practice operational model.

  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • High school diploma

  • Technical / mechanical aptitude to operate MAC and Windows platform computer systems.

  • Knowledge of office use applications (MS Office, G Suite or other)

  • Basic understanding of trouble shooting hardware, software, AV Equipment

  • Experience in a health care related field (Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Patient Care Assistant, Medical Assistant).

  • Ability to mulit-task and manage multiple task demands andability to person a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of composure or efficiency

  • Basic knowledge of health care curriculum and technology, human anatomy, and life support systems with willingness to conduct independent study in order to upgrade knowledge to match simulation education activities.

Preferred

  • Associated or bachelor’s degree in technology or healthcare.

  • Intermediate level experience in computer, simulation technology, and AV Equipment.

  • Experience in simulation education.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • Position involves exposure to the following harmful elements: Chemicals; High Pressure Steam/Gas

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

  • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching; occasional sitting, pushing, pushing; rarely bending, kneeling/squatting, twisting, balancing, climbing

Pay Transparency:

The estimated pay range for this position is $24.00-$25.50 per hour. The offered rate will be commensurate with work experience and educational background.
