ETL Developer

Summary
An ETL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from multiple sources into data warehouses or analytics platforms. This role focuses on building efficient, reliable, and scalable data pipelines to support business intelligence, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows and data pipelines to extract data from multiple sources.
- Transform, cleanse, and validate data to ensure quality and consistency.
- Load data into data warehouses, data lakes, or analytics platforms efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements.
- Optimize ETL processes for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Monitor ETL jobs and troubleshoot failures to ensure timely data delivery.
- Document ETL processes, data mappings, and workflows for knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Implement data validation, error handling, and logging mechanisms.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and agile development ceremonies.
- Stay updated with emerging ETL tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in ETL development, data integration, or data engineering.
- Strong experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or DataStage.
- Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and data modeling concepts.
- Understanding of data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics concepts.
Preferred Skills / Duties
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery).
- Knowledge of Python, Java, or other scripting languages for data transformation.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in agile environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automation in data workflows.
