Youth Manager Job Description
Position Summary
The Youth Manager (YM) is responsible for overseeing the operations of PADA's youth programs. The YM will work closely with the Executive Director to implement the organization's strategic goals and expand ultimate frisbee opportunities for youth in the Philadelphia region, with a focus on growing Ultimate among underserved youth, including urban youth and women-matching players.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Youth Programming Management – 90% (36 hours/week)
- Manage youth leagues and tournaments: Organize and oversee all youth leagues and tournaments across multiple age ranges from elementary through high school, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for participants, coaches, and other relevant volunteers.
- Expand youth ultimate opportunities: Develop and implement various youth programs, including formalized leagues, camps, clinics, tournaments, and other initiatives with a focus on expanding programming in underserved areas and among underserved populations.
- Focus on sustainability: Create and manage profitable events (through earned revenue, grants, or other fundraising mechanisms) to offset costs and ensure the long-term sustainability of youth programs.
- Establish accessibility: Develop accessible pipelines to youth ultimate opportunities and encourage participation, particularly from underserved communities.
- Manage YCC (Youth Club Championships) travel teams: Oversee the operations and logistics of the YCC travel teams, including possible travel for the tournament.
- Collaborate on strategic planning: Work with the Executive Director to develop an annual budget and strategic plan for the growth and development of youth programs.
- Cultivate new volunteers and coaches, maintain existing volunteer and coach relationships, and provide high-quality volunteer management and coach development.
General PADA Conduct – 10% (4 hours/week)
- Support organizational goals: Carry out the objectives and goals set by the Executive Director.
- Promote PADA initiatives: Create and share content highlighting PADA's programs and initiatives.
- Represent PADA positively: Serve as a positive and respectful ambassador for PADA, fostering relationships with stakeholders, partners, and potential stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
- Passion for ultimate frisbee and a commitment to developing youth programs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in youth sports or program management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management.
Additional Skills & Competencies
- Experience in coaching or teaching ultimate frisbee.
- Familiarity with youth development principles is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g. Google Suite and Drive, Canva, Monday.com, Slack, TopScore or other events management software, Constant Contact, TeamSnap, and social media).
- Grant support to the Executive Director is a plus.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a criminal and SafeSport child abuse background check.
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings.
