Aluminum Can Receiver

The aluminum cans Inspector is responsible for receiving, inspecting, weighing, and issuing pay tickets for aluminum can deliveries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspects cans received to ensure material meets specifications and is free from environmental hazards in accordance with scrap policy.
• Weighing of aluminum cans.
• Entering information into PC and printing out weigh tickets.
• Notifies supervisors of problems and assist with procedures to correct violations or issues.
• Directs unloading vehicles delivering scrap to ensure safe and orderly flow within the facility.
• Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
• Complies with safety regulations.
• Good housekeeping a must.
• Hours are 7am to 4pm weekly and 7am to noon Saturdays.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 18+ years of age.
• High School Diploma, GED or work related experience.
• Knowledge of various metals helpful.
• Ability to lift 50+lbs regularly.
• Forklift and skid steer experience helpful.
• Requires outside work, and work in non-climate controlled environments year round.
• Face-to-face and radio communication required daily.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with guests and employees.
• Dependable and consistent work ethic.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Ability to stand constantly throughout shift, walk constantly, frequent use of hands, speak and hear on a frequent basis. Vision abilities including: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

JOB CONDITIONS: Employees are required to wear protective gear, safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and gloves. Exposure to physical operations at metal recycling yards; may include but not limited to walking/climbing in active Industrial yards with uneven surfaces and to out-of-the-way areas. Frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions.
