Senior accounting manager
- *This position requires 4 days in-office. Friday is a work from home day** 
 
- Perform and oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
 - Manage the monthly close process in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
 - Maintain the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
 - Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
 - Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
 -  Ensure all transactions are properly documented and coded to the correct funding source and chart of accounts.  
 
- Lead the invoicing process for all STN (Sullivan Training Network) partners, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract terms.
 - Coordinate with the PM, STN to align invoicing schedules with partner deliverables.
 - Track outstanding balances and follow up on collections as necessary.
 -  Reconcile incoming payments from drawdowns, corporations and other funders.  
 
- Oversee all outgoing payments, including vendors, consultants, contractors, and partners.
 - Process and track incoming revenue and grant disbursements.
 - Maintain vendor files and ensure W-9s and 1099 reporting requirements are met.
 - Monitor and maintain the cash disbursement schedule, flagging issues for resolution.
 -  Implement payment approval workflows and internal controls per financial policies.  
 
- Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis by providing timely reports and expenditure updates to the Director of Finance.
 - Support grant and contract reporting by preparing and maintaining documentation of expenditures tied to restricted funding.
 -  Work with program and development teams to ensure expenses align with funder budgets.  
 
- Ensure proper documentation and approval processes for all financial transactions.
 - Contribute to the maintenance of strong internal controls and compliance with regulatory and audit standards.
 - Support the annual audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to audit inquiries.
 -  Assist in documenting finance SOPs and systems improvements.  
 
- Minimum 6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded environment.
 - Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting, and grant compliance.
 - Experience managing AP, AR, general ledger, and monthly close processes.
 - Prior experience with partner invoicing or subrecipient financial management strongly preferred.
 - Demonstrated ability of transactional accuracy.
 - Experience with process improvement/streamlining.
 - Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
 - Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
 - Proficiency in FundEZ, Microsoft Excel, and accounting systems; experience with bill.com or similar AP platforms a plus.
 - Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
 - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a growing, mission-focused team.
 - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required

- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
 - Ability to learn/translate/refer to technical material and produce extensive written communications.
 - Ability to travel to external meetings both locally and nationally, including periodic overnight travel.
 - Normal work requires frequent use of the telephone and computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
 - Ability to be mobile at meetings and events.
 - May be required to move about frequently in the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc.
 - May require standing/sitting for prolonged periods of time during meetings and conferences.
 -  Must be able to communicate in large gatherings and conduct information sessions with technology so others will understand.
