Music Teacher and School Choir Director
Full-Time Music Teacher Duties Instruction
- Teach general music classes for students in PreK-8.
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum.
- Teach music theory, rhythm, singing, movement, listening skills, and appreciation of various musical styles.
- Introduce students to liturgical and sacred music.
- Assess student progress and provide report card grades and comments.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Plan and lead music for school Masses, prayer services, and other liturgical celebrations.
- Teach students appropriate liturgical hymns and responses.
- Collaborate with the principal, pastor, and religion teachers to prepare for the liturgical year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Holy Days, etc.).
- Direct school concerts (Christmas, Spring Concert, Talent Show, etc.).
- Prepare students for special performances at school and parish events.
- Organize and direct school choir, if applicable.
- Coordinate rehearsals and performance schedules.
- Maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment.
- Organize and maintain the music room.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specials teachers, and administration.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and performances.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees.
