Organizational Overview: Headquartered within Saint Joseph’s University, the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support, Kinney, has a two-fold mission to educate and train the autism professionals of tomorrow, while supporting and serving the individuals and families affected by autism today. Kinney serves children and adults with autism throughout the five county Philadelphia area, southern New Jersey and Delaware while staffing their programs with graduate and undergraduate students, SCHOLARS, predominantly from Saint Joseph’s University and from surrounding colleges and universities as well.Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Community Programs will be responsible for both the SCHOLAR and client programmatic success of the Kinney Center. This includes evaluating and revising existing programs, as well as developing new programs based on expertise, creativity, and knowledge of current educational and therapeutic best practices. The Director of Community Programs will work closely with all relevant staff to manage the complementary day-to-day operations of the service provision programs and how those programs train SCHOLARS, ensuring they are run safely, efficiently, and cost effectively. Emphasis will be placed on delivering and communicating measurable goals desired by the communities we serve and using the associated outcomes to continue to support and challenge our clients/students. Responsibilities will also include developing, training, and managing programs staff in utilizing best practices and research-based teaching strategies and interventions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare semesterly evaluations of current programs, establish program goals and recommendations for future programs considering the strategic objectives of the Kinney Center
Oversee daily operations and long-term strategy of year-round programming, including, but not limited to: Youth Social Skills, Transitional and Adult Independent Living and Employment Skills, Camp Kinney, Sports and Recreation
Supervise and evaluate all program operations and multidisciplinary staff including full-time Program employees and Graduate Assistants
Conduct community needs assessment to inform future programming with current families and the broader autism community
Work with the Assistant Director of Community Outreach to plan, implement, and assess a system for recruiting clients/ attendees
Take an active role in SCHOLAR recruitment, working across teams to evaluate needs and recruitment practices
Work cooperatively with Executive Director and development staff in grant writing, foundation relations, major gifts, and identification of other funding sources as they relate to programming, and relationship management
In conjunction with the Director of Business Development, ensure cost effectiveness and sustainability of programmatic offerings, continuing to seek various funding streams, such as the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.
Lead the Programs Team to develop and enhance training for Graduate Assistants and undergraduates students (SCHOLARS) that provide education related to best practices and behavioral support, ensuring alignment with research-based teaching procedures
Develop and deliver educational training/professional development to community and education partners
Forge relationships in the community to create partnerships to both recruit new clients and provide experiential learning experiences for SCHOLARS
Provide, manage and oversee onsite supervision of students completing required fieldwork hours from relevant fields
Work cooperatively with members of the campus community including but not limited to: Advancement, Government Relations, Department of Special Education, etc.
All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities :
Attends information sessions and conferences on behalf of the Kinney Center as they relate to clinical services, programs, and training
Serves as a resource to families requiring support with their children with autism
Act as a liaison with the team to coordinate projects and answer questions for external partners
Minimum Qualifications (Education/Training and Experience):
Required
Master’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Health Services, or related field
A minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience in program development/education/autism services
A minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Effective, efficient, and timely oral and written communication
Relevant leadership experience
Job will be located at Saint Joseph’s University, but ability to travel is required
Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders including diagnosis, treatment, behaviors, and functioning, and how the symptoms and issues impact families and friends, the community, schools, service providers, those who pay for services, and autism policy makers.
Proficient with computer skills
Job is a salaried exempt position with regular hours of Monday – Friday, though some nights and weekends are expected
Extensive knowledge and understanding of OVR Service Definitions and reimbursement rates
Preferred
Professional clinical licensure or certification
Knowledge and understanding of employment for individuals with autism
Demonstrated ability to create successful programming from conceptualization to fruition with measurable outcomes
Estimated Pay Range:
The estimated pay range for this position is $100,000-$105,000 annually. Offered salary will be commensurate with work experience and educational background.
