NBIS Bridge Inspector (Part-time)
LSG is currently seeking NBIS Bridge Inspectors to join our national bridge inspection team.
Qualified candidates will possess basic experience in the fields of bridge/tunnel inspection and engineering and be excited to grow in this fast-paced and exciting market.
This role encompasses a blend of office and field responsibilities, including conducting on-site bridge inspections across various locations, primarily locally but with opportunities on a national scale. The candidate will also be responsible for the performance of structure inspections, authoring of inspection reports and performance of bridge load ratings as required. This position presents opportunities for growth within the bridge inspection and engineering industry.
This position is performed primarily outdoors and, therefore, the worker will be exposed to varying weather conditions and natural elements. Ability to extensively bend, kneel, stand, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs is required.
Key Responsibilities:
· Create inspection reports, notes and assist in load rating calculations
- Help with coordination amongst inspection staff, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
- Record daily notes, photo logs, and other required documentation from inspections
- Utilize web-based software to update asset information and generate inspection reports
- Experience with bridge engineering analysis software and standard Microsoft Office Suite products
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Physical ability to perform field work year-round in adverse weather conditions and work around bridges, roads, rail, and tunnels
- Physical ability to carry ladders and gear, work at heights, and work in water with waders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Reliable means of transportation and willingness to travel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred but not required
- Minimum one - two years of progressively responsible structure inspection and/or design related experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- Basic understanding of structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, pre-stressed concrete and timber
- Completed the FHWA/NHI 130055 bridge inspection basic course or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Able to lift and carry equipment up to 25 lbs
