JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia. This position will primarily operate out of our commissary kitchen in Port Richmond, Philadelphia.

Monday - Friday

9am -5pm

The Commissary Associate position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of the Prepared Foods operation. They are responsible for the preparation, packaging, and delivery of Riverwards-branded food products and value-added products. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space. They will communicate frequently with market staff to ensure proper inventory practices are followed.

Reports to: Commissary Manager/Commissary Supervisor

Daily Responsibilities:

• Prepare salads, sandwiches, dips, and other Riverwards house branded food products
• Package food products
• Cut and wrap cheese
• Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space
• Take ownership of receiving deliveries when they arrive and keep a friendly rapport with delivery people
• Follow health and safety standards while working
• Complete all opening and closing procedures

Requirements

• Experience working in the kitchen for a bar, restaurant, or caterer
• Clean and organized when working in a kitchen setting
• A diligent approach to safety and sanitation. ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing; this includes lifting, carrying and stooping
• Clean driving record
• A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
• Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
• Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
