Are you interested in working on Paxos, IO Path availability and performance, replication, data and metadata consistency checking. The data plane team is building a new Storage layer supporting low latency high throughput storage system in 100+ regions.

As part of this effort, the Object Storage Service team is looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, large scale storage, and scaling services to meet future growth. As a technical leader, you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the Object Storage Service. You should be able to design complex systems, strong programmer and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

This position is located in Seattle or Santa Clara. No remote. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, you will be called upon to lead major projects and have significant participation in design and architecture. You will be expected to act as a technical leader on your team and demonstrate core values for other more junior engineers. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

To succeed with these responsibilities will require:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

  • 15+ years experience delivering storage systems.

  • Cloud experience is a plus.

  • Proven experience with a major Object Oriented Programming language such as Java or C++.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Very strong knowledge of databases, storage and distributed persistence technologies.

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
