Human Resources Generalist
PURPOSE:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering the daily functions of the Human Resources department. This role manages key HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration, benefits administration, employee relations, leave management, compliance, and policy implementation. The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted resource for employees and management while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with local HR Business Partner to ensure a unified company image is maintained for all HR related matters.
- Ensures employee and company information is confidentially maintained.
- Conducts an open-door policy regarding employee issues/concerns and advises management with an appropriate resolution.
- Enrolls, terminates, or changes employee information for benefits such as health, 401k, PTO as needed on benefit websites and payroll system.
- Ensures employee insurance and driving records are in accordance with Vehicle and Driving Policy by performing BMV checks and obtaining insurance policies as necessary.
- Assists with annual benefit open enrollment for employees.
- Approves benefit invoices for payment.
- Maintains employee personnel files.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Prepares and revises job descriptions as needed for all positions.
- Recruits, interviews, and screens employees to fill vacant positions.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation and onboarding.
- Manages leaves of absence including FMLA, Work Comp, Personal Leaves, and Disability.
- Investigates accidents and prepares OSHA reports and logs.
- Maintains payroll and HRIS system to ensure records are up to date.
- Administers payroll related activities including updating employee data in payroll system, reviewing time and attendance for accuracy, reviewing, and submitting, bi-weekly payroll, downloading and maintaining payroll reports.
- Keeps up to date on payroll, tax and state regulations.
- Prepares and maintains all government required reporting for garnishments, court orders, and child support.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting comply.
- Administers SMAC bonus program for managers.
- Assists in preparing company policies and handbooks in conjunction with local HR Business Partner and communicating to employees.
- Coordinates employee training as needed and in conjunction with LNS BUNA objectives.
- Works with managers to ensure disciplinary actions and terminations are approved and handled appropriately.
- Maintains bulletin boards, employee pictures, and other postings in common areas.
- Coordinates employee events and promotes positive company culture to enhance employee work environment.
- Self-assesses and receives training as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Three to five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Human Resources principles, employment laws, and HR best practices.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and benefits administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional demeanor and customer-service mindset.
- Valid Driver’s license and auto insurance in compliance with LNS Vehicle/Driving Police
- Valid US Passport
- Professional HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP.
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices .
- Location: Meadville, PA
- Schedule: Day shift, 40h/w, weekend as required
- Overtime: as required
- Duration: 6 months
- Assignment Start: ASAP
