Operations Director / Manager - Based in Lititz PA
This role involves overseeing all aspects of daily manufacturing and project management operations, ensuring seamless coordination across key departments such as Accounts, Sales, and Design.
Success in this position demands thoughtful strategic planning, proactive leadership, and a commitment to fostering continuous improvement, both internally and throughout the broader supply chain.
A central responsibility is to guide and inspire the Project Management team, ensuring projects are executed efficiently not only within the United States but also on a global scale.
The goal is to guarantee that each project is delivered to clients punctually and within budget, without compromising quality. Additionally, the position focuses on optimizing workflows, streamlining processes, and enhancing overall efficiency for the benefit of the company.
This is achieved while working collaboratively with clients and supply chain partners, always striving to create value and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the seamless, precise, and efficient operation of the Project Management department, ensuring both staff performance and project outcomes consistently meet high standards.
Organize regular inter-departmental meetings to track project progress, confirming that all initiatives remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with clients’ expectations.
Proactively identify potential challenges or obstacles, and introduce timely, practical solutions using effective planning methods, ensuring these strategies are thoroughly implemented.
Take the lead in establishing, evaluating, and sustaining a reliable, quality-focused supply chain for all products.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing lead times across all disciplines, and monitor these timelines regularly to anticipate and address any delays.
Oversee every aspect of logistics related to the receipt and delivery of goods, both domestically and internationally—a critical function within the supply chain that demands a deep understanding of logistical requirements.
Implement robust systems to ensure precise stock control and keep detailed, up-to-date inventory records.
Provide suppliers with tailored packing and labeling specifications, customized for the specific products and delivery methods involved.
Consistently pursue opportunities to minimize waste and reduce packaging materials, embedding efficiency and sustainability into all processes.
Quality and safety
Continuously monitor and track all project and operational issues until they are fully resolved, ensuring that corrective measures are implemented to prevent recurrence. Maintain up-to-date health and safety standards, adhering to these guidelines both within the workplace and when staff are on-site. Oversee the maintenance and organization of the warehouse and operations facility, including equipment upkeep and optimizing workflow systems for greater efficiency.
Regularly update and maintain risk assessments and method statements, ensuring comprehensive documentation. Provide clients with company Operating and Maintenance Manuals upon project completion. Keep detailed records of warranties issued by Technology Desking to clients, as well as those received from the supply chain.
Take responsibility for tooling and dies held at suppliers by monitoring their remaining lifespan and replacement costs. Ensure these items are fully insured and keep track of the budget allocated for their replacement, maintaining awareness of all associated expenses.
Financial
Effectively manage stock levels by aligning inventory with both cash flow constraints and the available warehouse capacity. Carefully balance project requirements against the variable lead times of an extensive and diverse supply chain, ensuring that materials are available when needed without overextending resources.
Take a proactive approach to negotiating purchase prices with all suppliers, and integrate associated expenses such as transport, freight, duties, and other related costs.
This comprehensive consolidation is essential for establishing accurate base cost levels, which the sales department will utilize to determine appropriate sales prices.
Stay vigilant regarding supplier price changes, adjusting internal price lists promptly to reflect any fluctuations.
Communicate impending price increases or decreases to the Sales Department well in advance, ensuring they are equipped to respond to market changes.
Regularly update the Sales Department on the validity periods of client quotations, and advise them on delivery and installation pricing for both domestic (UK) and international projects.
Additionally, negotiate and formalize payment terms and credit facilities with supply chain partners, fostering strong relationships and maintaining financial stability across operations.
Team Leadership
Adopt a hands-on leadership style, inspiring and motivating staff by setting a positive example through your actions.
Take an active role in mentoring and developing team members by recognizing their strengths, fostering their growth, and sharing expertise generously.
