Transportation Specialist
Job Description
Job Description
About Chester Elite Trans LLC
At Chester Elite Trans, we’re more than just a transportation provider—we’re a trusted partner for families, schools, and communities. Safety, reliability, and exceptional service drive everything we do. As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Transportation Specialist to lead our school bus operations with a hands-on approach and a heart for service.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Transportation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in making sure our school transportation runs smoothly every day. You’ll work closely with our drivers, dispatchers, school partners, and leadership team to keep everything safe, on time, and efficient.
Some of your day-to-day might include:
• Managing daily routes, schedules, and dispatch operations to keep everything running like clockwork.
• Making sure we’re always in compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
• Identifying ways to improve routing, fuel efficiency, and overall operations—your ideas will matter here.
• Serving as the go-to person for resolving issues that come up with routes, drivers, or schools.
• Leading driver training initiatives, including safety practices, customer service, and operational updates.
• Reviewing driver performance and working with the team to provide feedback, support, or recognition.
• Helping plan for emergency closures, weather delays, and anything else that might throw us off schedule.
• Keeping organized records of incidents, vehicle inspections, and maintenance reports.
• Assisting with budgeting and finding smart ways to reduce costs without cutting corners on safety or service.
• Supporting the implementation of transportation technology like GPS systems and routing software.
What We’re Looking For:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, Transportation, or a related field, or equivalent experience in school transportation operations.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in school transportation, with at least 2 years in a leadership or operations-focused role.
• Solid understanding of transportation regulations, routing logistics, and fleet management.
• Comfort with transportation management systems (like Samsara, Veo Now, Busology, Angeltrax cameras, Samsara, or similar on-board technology).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills—you’ll be working with a lot of different people every day.
• Someone who can stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly when things change.
• A CDL with school bus endorsements is a plus, or a willingness to get one within a set time frame. ( 1 year )
What It’s Like to Work With Us:
We’re a close-knit, supportive team that takes pride in our work. While this role is primarily based in the office, you’ll also spend time in the field at depots, schools, or checking in with drivers. We occasionally need everyone to be all hands-on-deck for emergencies or weather events, so a flexible attitude goes a long way.
Compensation & Perks
This role comes with a competitive salary (confidential during the application process), and includes:
• Paid Time Off (PTO)
• Simple IRA with company match
• Company-paid life insurance
• A supportive, team-focused work environment
• Possible use of a company vehicle for operations-related duties
Interested in helping us take Chester Elite Trans to the next level? We’d love to hear from you!
